Breathwork as Physical Therapy™

  • 1 Step

About

Breathwork helps put the brakes on an acute stress response and divert health problems associated with chronic stress. By eliciting the body’s relaxation response, deep abdominal breathing helps reduce blood pressure. More complex methods have been linked to enhancing addiction recovery as well as supporting cathartic release of stress, pain, and trauma. Conscious breathing practices for the purpose of physical, psychological, emotional, and even spiritual healing can be found in many places and time periods across the globe. In the ancient languages of Hebrew, Greek, Latin, and Sanskrit, spirit and breathe are the exact same word. The ancient people of earth believed the breathe and the spirit were the same or at least linked together. They come into the body together and they leave the body together at death. Most notably, breathwork has been continually practiced in China, India, Japan, and Tibet for healing and maintaining good health. Evidence of breathwork dates back to 2700 B.C.E. in China and 3000 B.C.E. in India. The practices have since been refined for modern use and supported by evidence-based results. In this course, the global masters of breathwork enlighten your perspective on the value of practicing conscious breathing and show you how it’s done. Our scientists and researchers explain what is physiologically happening during a breathwork practice. You will grow and learn how making unconscious breathing conscious has power to improve your health.
